The idea came from a photo I saw of Dragon*Con of a little girl dressed as Red Riding Hood with a twist. I thought “I can do that, but better!”. I used a vintage Simplicity pattern (7120) to make the dress. I used a white floral vintage trim for the waist and decided to make the zipper exposed to give it a modern edge. Instead of making it with a collar I made a detachable rabbit fur peter pan collar (which my daughter loves). All the seems on the dress are finished either by lining, french seems, or bias binding.
The apron is vintage as it belonged to my mother. Probably about 35-40 years old and the coat was a gift. The wolf head was the creation of a friend. More on my blog: http://peanutbuttermacrame.blogspot.com/2011/10/halloween-red-riding-hood.html

This pic rocks. I love her looking at her nails as if to make sure that the wolf did not f up the manicure.

So cool! Looks like it could be a premise for a film. I also like that she could easily wear the dress or jacket after Halloween. Well done!

Fabulous! A feminist Red Riding Hood – who needs to be rescued by a man when a girl can do it for herself ;-) The feminine details of the dress are lovely!
