Once again, I do not have a single photo of the thing that was remade… :7 You’ll just have to trust my short explanation, then. Last summer I got this very boxy dress, almost a rectangle with a slight trace of sleeves. Too long, too baggy and so forth. But I loved both the fabric AND the color that I’ve decided to give it a second chance…
I’ve shortened it, cut off the sleeve imitations, shaped the armholes and took in at the sides to give it some shape. The original dress had two elements that I’ve left untouched – the buttons in the back and large pockets that are visible on the outside (and they are pretty large, I must say and very comfortable). Since the hem looked rather sad, I’ve attached some lace from another skirt I didn’t wear any longer. As I’ve started this remake during the night, so both the armholes and the hem are handstitched.
The only problem with this dress is that it’s made of woven cotton, which tends to crease quite badly. But, oh, well, it went nicely with my striped earrings and loose kimono cardigan ;)

Very nice! Love the shape you gave it to the skirt part :)

Thanks ;) Basically, I shaped it to resemble a pear and it’s the weight of the pockets that makes it fall around nicely. A simple trick :)

Very pretty. It’s amazing you were able to match the color exactly with the lace.

Thanks ;) Well, I wasn’t trying to match, it was an accident, really… ;D
