Made this dress a couple of years ago for my graduation. Was really nice to be wearing something different from everyone else.
Made this from Simplicity 3470 and it was too small – I had only just started sewing so I assumed I could just add a small panel on the side with the zip – obviously this distorted and unbalanced the whole rest of the bodice so I sewed little bands around the straps to pull them out a bit and gathered the back lower into a V. I think it worked and I wear this dress a lot and no-ones ever noticed.
Very wide hem so I could lengthen it if I wanted to. Simple gathered rectangle skirt.
