Meringue skirt from Colette Sewing Handbook. Made in a straight 8 and added 3 in of length. Construction directions were great and I love the scalloped bottom. Not super happy with the darts, they were fine in my muslin but this poplin is just different enough in how it lays that the darts were way off. Also, the material was hard to press and get good darts. I ended up extending them 2.5 inches in back and 2 inches in front. I have not consulted a fitting book but I think it is because I have a pear shape that is widest and the bottom most part of my hips… Humm, a fitting book is definitely next. Perhaps the next time I make this kind of project of project will add the darts after the contruction to get more accurate fit for my body.
