This was my first attempt at a button-down shirt, or a top of any kind, really. For this project I snatched a Martha Stewart Living flat sheet from my parents’ guest room linen closet when I was housesitting (they didn’t mind). I thought the vertical pattern would be well-suited for shirting fabric.
I used New Look 6963, view C. It was a great pattern on which to practice buttonholes and collars. I only struggled with the back facing and some understitching issues. The shirt’s a bit boxy, so I only plan to wear it tucked in with higher-waisted skirts.
