I have had this heavy cotton fabric for some time but I did not have anything to use it on and when I seen this pattern I was smitten. The fabric was some of my grandmas and it still had the old tags on it, it felt great to be able to snip them off and prepare the fabric to be sewn. For some resion I was thinking that this pattern was going to be a chalenge but it was not. Like in the instructions I did pin and re pin the ruffle at least three times before sewing it. As for the rest of the bodice I have done so many dresses that I did not need to look up the how-tos to do the lining or zipper. I chose to use contrasting stiching around the arms, neck and the hem which I used lace hem tape because of the heavier fabric. I am limited here on the selection of zippers so I chose one that matches the stiching.
NOTE in the picture of the back I do not have the hook and eye sewn on so it has a slight gap at the top.
heavy cotton, zipper, hook and eye
elainemay for such a lovely pattern

This is very pretty! I’ve been eyeing this pattern since it came out, and I think I might do something reddish like yours!
