Brooklyn, New Yo...
I cut this dress out probably 7 years ago and soon realized I had no idea how to handle silky fabric like this and put it away. 3 years ago I got a serger and brought it back out. Serging away, I soon realized that I had done a terrible job cutting out the fabric and the pieces just didn’t fit together. The rest of the fabric was long gone. It went back away. A few months ago I took it out and managed to finish it. I never thought it would happen.
It does have some slight issues with fitting, but all things considered it’s not too bad. I just love these fabrics together. I’m happy It took so long to finish. I did a rolled hem on the lining, red ribbon facing on the orange silk and I left the lace raw. I love the exposed zipper too. I wouldn’t have done those things 7 years ago. This is also, Mccalls 4826.
red lace from grandma’s fabric stash, orange silk, red silky lining, heavy weight metal zipper, metal clasp
