The main fabric is something a friend gave me a long time ago, and the contrast fabric was a gift as well. The buttons are covered with the contrast fabric.
The pattern instructions say to make the front part of the waistband two layers, and hide the zipper closure underneath the kangaroo pocket in the middle. But I didn’t do it that way. Instead I made the kangaroo pocket like I normally would, skipped the buttonholes, and just made the buttons on the outside non-functioning. Then I put an exposed zipper in the back!
I had this long zipper for several years, but couldn’t decide what to do with it. This skirt was the perfect opportunity to show it off. I don’t know if you can see it, but the red fabric has gold sequins on it, which match the gold zipper teeth.
