Button front recycled oxford shirt skirt. This was really fun to make! and it didn’t take long, especially for a beginner. In the end I had a hard time deciding whether to hem it or not. I liked the length and the soft edge but weaves don’t fray real gracefully… I decided to hem it… but I included an image of how it looked before I did.
100% cotton mens oxford shirt. I used the sleeves, front button section and a large piece of the back of the shirt.
This creation was inspired by Anda’s “Old Oxford Shirt Skirt”

this is very cute, I like the pleats in the back, my bum has a tendency of looking a bit undefined in skirts, this pleating adds more curves ; ) I like.

I loved this idea! Went to the thrift store and picked up a plaid flannel shirt and made it into a skirt for my grand daughter

Unique, and very comfy too I’d bet! I’m wondering if I look carefully enough at yours if i’ll be able to fashion one of my own. I hope my waist isn’t too big for the collar/cuffs waistband it looks like you’ve made. Thanks for posting this, you’ve inspired me!

Hi, I just got through attempting to create one of these skirts. How did you decide what angle to sew the skirt together? Did you look at another skirt or pattern? Mine didn’t turn out quite as nice. Too poofy in the back, and the buttons from the sleeves ended up in the back instead of on the sides. Where is your seam from the sleeve part to the front part? Thanks for you help!!

This is so clever! What a great idea. I love the sides especially and i reckon the pleat on the back is quirky. Great job!

Very nice! It looks terrific on you, and I’m glad you hemmed it. I just might make one now, too!

good idea and fair result! I would have removed the pleats at center back though.

What a great idea !! and you’ve done it so well!
I love the idea of using recycled pieces of clothing (but I haven’t had much luck source really nice pieces from Opshops – mostly Hawaiian shirt types…)
Keep up the good work…
