for a recycled item challenge, i used my dad’s old dress shirt and remade it into a fitted women’s shirt. OMG we have different body types. starting from scratch is so much easier!
I used French darts for a good one step bodice fix. They are fantastic for me and I love the shape they provide. I did have to add upper bust darts because of men’s sizing in the upper chest/shoulder area. I stick down the back vent/darts and then topstitched for a nice effect. the collar was removed and some hem was used for a ruffled collar that’s oh so popular now. the sleeves were shortened to 1/2 length and regraded, then fit to a refitted arm hole. I took in at least 2 inches on either side and closed the armhole with it, and still had a ton of extra space. I draped this the whole time to get it right, since I wasn’t working from scratch, and i had to match two sides without having them lie flat. ever. it was fun and i WILL wear it!
