Description

This is a project I did during my 2nd year of University. To fit into the catagory of ‘Contemporary Art’ I made dresses from recycable materials suchas:

Newspaper, Bin Bags, Train Tickets, Sweet Wrappers, Board games, Playing Cards etc. It was a really fun – yet tiering – project to do! Nevertheless it was a success.

I had never ever made a dress in my life and all of a sudden I felt the need to make clothes! I am like any other young woman who has a passion for clothing! I buy and buy all the time so I realised it was my turn to create some one off pieces of clothing!

I asked a girl who I didn’t know to model for me and she was brilliant! we really got along and she was such a pleasure to work with! Definately a natural! I was really pleased with how the dresses looked on the model.

I did two photography shoots – I also took the photographs! I hope you enjoy my work!

Material Notes

Newspaper, Bin Bags, Train Tickets, Sweet Wrappers, Bubble Wrap, Board games, Playing Cards

Great work! It’s nice to know that a fashionista (if I can call you that) has been inspired by fashion sewing and may even go on to create other fashion sewing projects. If you are looking to learn more about fashion sewing, visit http://www.fashionsewingblog.com, a totally free tutorial blog demonstrating key sewing techniques.

this looks really cool, I know what you mean when saying it was really tiring to make yet fun. i made a paper dress for one of my projects at college earlier this year (iv included a link to the sight) http://rbattlecreative.weebly.com/uploads/6/3/7/7/6377679/4713710_orig.jpg i loved working with paper the only problem is that when the projects been graded and you have to take it home its rather difficult to store.

but well done with your dress, i really like it.
