New Orleans , Lo...
Project requested by a father of a young boy who is to march in a New Orleans 2010 Second Line parade. Had to create size 10 “Zoot suit” from a size 18 boy’s dress suit.
Pants were completely re-made. Boy’s own uniform pants, with McCall’s 3353, were used to create pants.Original size 18 pants were de-constructed, and new pieces were cut from old pants fabric. I was able to save the original front pockets and waistband.
Jacket was taken in 2 inches on each side; sleeves were shortened by 5 inches. To do repairs, left sleeve lining was opened, jacket was turned inside out, and repairs were completely hidden.
Polyester Gabardine outer shell; polyester lining ; summer wieght, powder blue, but for New Orleans’ Mardi Gras season (winter).
