another refashioned dress… er… robe! this creation started out life as a vintage robe I picked up at the thrift store recently. I loved the colors, but what was I going to do with a robe?! (I tend to be a yoga pants and tshirt gal.) I decided that it was also too pretty to just shove away in my box of “gorgeous, but impractical” vintage, so I refashioned it!
the adjustments weren’t that radical: snipping 15" off the hem, hand hemming, shortening the sleeves (and reattaching the original, stripy cuffs), and sewing a snap here and there to keep everything in place. and look: new dress in under two hours!!!
the second image shows the original robe, before my scissors got to it. ;)

Oh thats stunning. I’ve never been a big advocate of Pink so it usually takes somthing really beautiful in that colour to turn my head, your dress certainly does it!

So clever! I’m doing this sort of thing with a jacket I found for $3. I forgot to take a before photo and have already cut the sleeves…I’ll have to unpin all of the pleats and get a quick photo of the boxy shape before I finish it off.
