My second take on the Colette Hazel since I was unhappy with the first one I made (stiff fabrics do not go well with this pattern)
I made this version with much softer fabrics: secondhand sheets & lace – and what a difference! I love it so much more now. The lace is bought from door-to-door sellers who just walk around all day running into customers while I bought the sheets at market.
The bodice and strap area was a bit tricky because I used a scalloped border print lace… but in the end I made it work, it’s just not very pretty on the inside (had to really play with the facings) but shhh thats my secret!
I took photos of this dress indoors because it is currently rainy season where I am, and the last thing I want to do is be caught under the rain with this dress!
I wrote more in my sewing journal here: http://cathywu.com/journal/treadling/2013/05/21/rainy-day-lace-colette-hazel/
