    Could you explain about the lining? I"m unclear why it is only 4 inches….

      It appears, to me, that the lining isn’t a full lining. It looks like that it is really just enough for the lining to peek out when worn so you can see the house colors. So, that 4 inches will peek out around the collar area, the hood has a full lining and then right at the edges where the robe opens when you are walking and the robe moves around with you. This just makes it easier to make and you don’t have to buy as much fabric. If you want a full lining, just cut the house color fabric using the main, outer pattern pieces that you would for the black fabric and sew them together, wrong sides facing each other.
