I’ve made dozens of these little zippered pouches in the last couple of years. They make great gifts, and gift bags as well. You can get 2 or 3 pouches out of a couple of fat quarters, or use a solid color ultra-suede, waxed cotton, or linen and embroider an monogram, or design on the front. For a masculine look, use denim, and a metal jeans zipper.
I use this project for teaching as well. Students who take my “Get Started Sewing” course finish by making the zippered pouch — it’s that easy! I’ve posted the tutorial here for you (you can also see it on my blog ScreamingMimisSewingRoom.blogspot.com
