this superfine cotton has been bought by me in arabia last winter on a market for 1 euro per meter. i had initially 5 colors, but one of them, i gave to a friend, so i ended up, doing 4 shortsleeved shirts for me and my hubby for the (not-exisiting) summer 2011.
i used the mccalls M6044 pattern and have been superhappy with it. very easy, very well explained, and i did only one change, as i love the shirts of karl lagerfeld for their high colar so much, i did played around with it a little and this is, what came out of it.
again, my lovely mashine helped me to add my little speciality, the monogramm……….
sorry, that the pix are a bit strange, but my husband is away and i had to do them myself, jumping between the camera and in front of it (you should have seen that :-))))
super fine cotton, super fine checked in dark blue, dark green, red and pink embroidery thread, mother of pearl buttons

Just back from holiday and I’m cheered by your lovely work! Chuckling to myself too as I imagine you darting back and forth from the camera! A camera with a remote control is a useful device for such occasions. You might want to slip a hint to Father Christmas!

These are so smart Ralf! You are giving Lagerfeld a run for his money. Nice touch with the personalization. Great result with the higher collar! Love checked shirts!

These turned out so well. You should be so proud. I especially love the monogram! By now I’m sure you’ve mastered that pattern. Hopefully you’ll have even more fun manipulating it to make more dramatic sleeves and collars. I look forward to seeing your upcoming projects. (I read that there may be a cashmere sweater in the works?!) Happy sewing!

Great shirts! I’m sure hubby will love them! I love the monogram, too! Too bad you didn’t take a video of your photo shoot. I’m sure we all would have enjoyed seeing you run from behind to in front of the camera!

The fabric was an amazing find in and of itself.
Those shirts are outstanding! Monograms and all (luv that they represent the two of you).
Mother of pearl buttons (my heart be still)! You are a star!!!

These shirts are fabulous, the photos are fabulous (you look adorable, and I can’t believe I never noticed your sleeve before). Is the monogram you and your hubby’s initials? I can’t show these photos to Ryan…I really owe him a shirt, and he would drool over these. And there is a cashmere coat in the works?!

dearest, thank you very much for your kind comment…… the mccalls pattern is super easy and quickly made, so maybe you should think of it for ryan! and yes the monogram is L for ludwig and R for ralf :-) the cashmere coat is in a very early stage, but i work on it now!

Ralf, you rock! I love that you not afraid of colors. The shirts are awesome and the higher collar really makes a difference. The pink is is my total fave. I’m so jealous of your machine embroidery feature. Maybe I should try what mine does?! How is your cashmere coat coming along?
