My first dress! I would hate for anyone who sews to get up close to it, for shame.
It is based on the MARRY pattern, which I am having trouble putting in the “Based On” section (Wait, nevermind-the pattern has magically appeared on the side of the page!). It is made out of an old bed sheet (older than me, probably) that I found in the closet, and the first thing my father said after I showed him was, “It looks just like my old bed sheet!” Thanks, Dad.
I added buttons down the back, omitted the zipper (my skirt was loose enough already to just slip over my head), and added inseam pockets from this awesome tutorial: http://www.ikatbag.com/2010/12/pockets-xiii-inseam-pockets.html. There is also a second skirt layer beneath my dress because it was slightly see-through, and I got that fabric from an old silk skirt of my mother’s.
