I made this from the free pattern from my Burda 06/2012 before I conquered my fear of inserting invisible zippers. haha. I don’t know why I dreaded it so much before because now I definitely prefer zippered skirts to skirts gathered with elastics.
Pretty straightforward and easy. I cut a size 36 and hacked about 4 inches from the hem and that was still too long for my liking so I folded the hem over until my desired skirt length achieved. I finished the hem with double-sided fabric tape but that was probably not the brightest idea since the thick hem shows through the right side of the fabric! But whatever. I’m not too bothered by it. I should have cut to desired length and hemmed with a narrow hem. Maybe next time.
The taffeta fabric is very easy to sew with and frays very little, so two thumbs up! The skirt fit is quite snug but I’m losing weight now so it would be more loose on me in the coming months, I think.
