These were long in the making, and still not perfectly fitted, but close. So close. Sewing pants is easy. Fitting is tough. After a day of wearing them, the stretch cotton became much to baggy for my liking. I have enough to try again for a perfect fit, and once done, this pattern should prove to be quite versatile.
I interlined the trousers with an orange stretch lining, using this ingenious method, encasing the raw edges. The crotch was simply serged and pressed to the side. I shortened the side zip so that it didn’t end on my widest part. And instead of self facing, I used red Petersham ribbon. It feels divine on the skin!
I’m still going to consider these a wearable muslin until I get the fit just so. Of course, there’s more over on the bloggy blog.
stretch cotton, stretch poly lining, Petersham ribbon, invisible zip

Thanks for the link to that underlining method. The inside looks so nice. I think the fit looks pretty good. And I love the color!

They’re a work in progress, but thanks! You have to try the interlining method… I know you’ll love it!

Well – I think you nailed the fitting! They do look fab on you and the colour is gorgeous! That red lining is is fantastic! Lovely Darl! There is NO WAY I would ever get up the gumption to sew, let alone fit, trousers! You are very clever! xxx

Sewing them is ridiculously easy. Fitting? Ugh! I wish an expert could come over and point out exactly what is going on! I’m still working on getting them with nary a drag line!
