I used a ‘Vintage Vogue 1954’ pattern to make this summer dress (V2960). The pattern was a little tricky getting the facings just right but was worth the effort. It looks best with a belt. I got the buttons made to match.

Lovely! I’m going to make this pattern too and trying to see what difficulties everyone has before I start. Stitchywitchy has made this too and said that the sizing was a bit off. Did you have this trouble?

Yes, I had a little problem with the sizing for the back of the dress (found it too big). But it wasn’t too hard to adjust. Good luck with your dress.

The pattern was really good. I only had to change the back and make it a little smaller. I also made a gathered skirt rather than a pleated one. I hope you manage to find it on ebay.

It’s lovely! Thank you for posting the pattern envelope—It’s always interesting to see how different vintage frocks look when they’re made up :)

Beautiful! And thanks for posting the picture of the pattern, I always find it hard to imagine the what the vintage styles will look like on a real person (not a barbie doll!). I think this is next on my to-do list!

Many thanks, I agree the Vintage illustrations are ‘lovely’ but hard to imagine as a ‘real garment’.
