I made this dress for a big horse racing day we went to yesterday, it’s always great fun – about 50 000 people go and everyone gets dressed up (my husband even bought a purple shirt so that we would match :-) ) In my typical last-minute style I was hand sewing the sequined leaves to the top just before we left home!
Material Notes
Silk-like fabric from an Indian sari - my mom bought it for me for R5 - about $0.50!!! Purple ponjee lining Lilac beads and sequins for the top

Newlook 6557 – I LOVE this pattern, it doesn’t require any altering. The only thing I changed was the middle waist band, I made it longer so I could gather it.

I absolutely love your dress!!!! I am acutally planning to make a very similar dress in dark purple satin, also gathered around the waist. Hopefully it will be half as beautiful as yours.
