Description
This is a variation on the Anda dress. I lowered the waist, created a seam at the waist line and an elastic casing on the inside rather than a drawstring. I also added a decorative ruffle to the collar, to give it that something extra. The material was a challenge. Its some kind of synthetic jersey with a small pleat. Love it, but frustrating. I’m not too experienced with knits but the pattern was simple enough. Overall, love how it came out, Anda is a great pattern.

how do you go about lowering a waist? and did you add the elastic casing to the inside? I’m asking because I’m thinking about altering this pattern to look like this dress (because i haven’t found another pattern)

I LOVE what you’ve done with the pattern. Very Audrey Hepburn, bless her heart. How did you do the collar?

Wonderful! When I get back in the vicinity of a sewing machine, I’m going to make something with an elastic casing.

ReneeBeth, Thanks, i’ll take it as a compliment, cause i’m a bit of an old lady and i love vintage! lowering the waistline was easy. I cut the pattern pieces and then cut at the natural waistline, where i created an elasting casing, which is easier than it sounds. Once you have created the seam at the waistline, press the seam down and stitch the seam to the skirt leaving an opening at one side. This creates a tunnel where you then run the elastic through. Stitch elastic together at side opening and close opening and Voila!

This looks like something my grandma would have worn when she was young—which is a compliment—timeless, elegant! I’m pretty new to sewing and also want to make an Anda with a lowered waistline…was it tricky to lower it?

It is very beautiful. I like the colour, the choice of fabric and especially the ruffle collar. Would you be able to share your technique of making the collar?

Thanks, I’m having trouble with my uploaded pics. The vertical pictures I took are being cropped and so instead of a full length photo, only the bottom half is showing. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I’ll try to fix later and post some better pics.
