This is the first time I upload a project on Burdastyle, for the competition. I’ve known that website for a long time but I never joined… This was the occasion!
I made an outfit for my sister, out of another outfit from our aunt : High waisted shorts and a wrap crop top, closing with hook and eye.
I used the bottom of the original skirt for the bottom of the top, and made a rose with the rest of it…
My sister doesn’t really like the colour, so I tried to spice it up a little with pink and orange topstitching.
I used an iron for the facings and interfacing (in the belt), for the pockets and bust/waist darts, to open the seams and for general appearance.(Even though it’s not obvious on the pictures: linen is terrible for that! After wearing it for like an hour, all the wrinkles come back! )
Linen, zipper, thread, self-covered button, hook and eye.

I love the top, did you use a pattern or did you design it yourself?

Thank you! No I didn’t. I wanted to make a waistcoat, but it wasn’t nice, and finally that’s how it turned out!
I used a pattern for the shorts though.

Very nice revision. It turned out nicely. I especially like the top with the overlaping bust parts. And the flower is such a good detail.

This is a very good example of how you can make a nice, sexy-looking outfit out of a horrible boring “something” without any fit by using your imagination and a sewing machine! Well done! Wish I would be that good in recycling!
