I’ve been on holiday from work all week so have worked on 2 Project Runway dresses (the second is oh sooooo almost done!). Here’s the first. Fabric is from eBay and was used by Topshop last summer season for some pretty dresses I remember.
I was a lazy gal and left out the toile, just lengthening the bodice by 4cm as I’m cursed with long body-itis. Annoyingly the bodice was slightly too small around the waist but the navy panel either side of the zipper (tapering from being in line with the original seam at the top, to 1.5 cm wider than the original seam at the waist) was my cunning solution to avoid a whole new bodice (see what you think!).
It’s lined in fine cotton lawn as the main fabric is pretty see through.
It goes perfectly with my 50s styled navy suede platform sandals :)
Oh and sorry I didn’t really doll up for the DIY shoot – next time I’ll do hair and make up!
Embroidered cotton lawn in white with navy stitching. Lined in cotton lawn

thanks – it actually embroidered in navy – a bulk buy on eBay that’s made this dress, a tunic for a 5 year old, a dress for a 9 month old and I still have a little left over!

OO i just bought this pattern. Very inspired to make this now, I love yours. It fits so beautifully – the tapered panel is a cunning plan that looks intentional, ties it all in nicely with the button straps at the sides!

Thank so much – that’s so sweet! Now to find a sunny day in the UK so that I can wear it (or find a funy matching raincoat!)

Ah thank you – you made my night!! The fabric is amazing – I should really add a close up. And I bought 3m and still have 1.2m left over for something else :)
