Description

The most luxurious coat ever! :) used cashmere for the shell and silk as lining. I used a classic coat pattern and made up most of the variations. The cashmere was on sale — and it was all interfaced, so it was quite thick at some point. But I like the end result a lot!

The feature i love the most is the flap in the back with button located in the pleat. :) I also made sure to line up the pocket seam with the upper body seam, though that was a pain to sew through!

the only defect is that i have a big butt, in my vision, the butt pleat is not opened like that. oh wells….

Material Notes

WOW! I love it. What pattern did you use? I love the back flap bit and I really want a coat with a back flap. (Sounds a bit wierd). You’ve made such a beautiful job of this and trust me you dont have a big butt. :-)

hahahaha! you are funny :) i actually REALLY wanted a coat with a back flap too! (which is why i insisted on putting that in here even though the fabric is so thick) the base pattern i used is mccals m5525. but u can find that pattern with other brands too (since its very classic)

      good luck!

the top half is based on mccall m5525, i sort of made up the bottom half (therefore the butt didnt fit as well as id like). :) good luck!

Ohhhhhhh I wish I could find cashmere on sale…My “fabric pusher” has this gorgeous purple chashmere: I am just waiting for him to take pity on me and give me some.

I really like the colour scheme with the red buttons. And I also find sort of refreshing that you made a cashmere coat look so preppy and young.
