Description

My project no. 4, chapter clothes  (I am trying to make some toys too). So, as soon as I saw trousers from Burda 10/2012 I though I would look skinny as the model on the picture (of course it doesnt work that way, but I do hope, always  ). I bough some black semi winter material, which has some strech in it, but its nothing similar to yersey. So, I take pattern in my regular trousers size, but it turned out to be too small. I dont measure pattern as each time I do it it turned out to be too small, but end product is usually too big. This time, it was not the case. Around the waist it was just perfect, but the rest was far too small. I tried with inserting few cm fabric as seen in the picture, …hmmm… for now, its ok…
Next pair of trousers will be better. And of course, if anyone is reading this and have some tips, comments or advices ..pls. feel free… I will be happy. I want to improve my skills which are not that good at all.

dear byVA, I know, if we want to hurry through to a new garment, we don’t want to hear it but what really improved my trousers-making 1000 times was making a muslin.

I was so sick of never finding fitting trousers so I took a jeans-pattern with a front fly, (which alone is not easy the first times…), added inset pockets, measured my personal-fit-waistband, tried out button-holes, tried top-stitching and took notes of all my steps. I always hesitated to do the extra work and the muslin trousers is not supposed to be worn on the street ;))) …but it really paid of.

Thank you, thats one really good advice. I just happened to have same spare fabric, which is not to be worn even inside my home (that would be the day for my bf: me, being dressed in big pink flowers ;) ).
btw, your green cat is fantastic, I will try it too :)
      Have a nice day….

ah, smart… The posted picture is with adjustment between legs, now, I think “your way” would give a better final result. Thanks for the advice :)
