So named because the fabric looks like someone used crayon to draw flowers all over it…and it looks kind of like two art aprons attached at the neck-ties! My very first wrap dress, and also first time using a non-modern pattern! This was made from a vintage (1970s?) Vogue Pattern 9458, described as a “fitted and flared, wrap sleeveless dress….Back waistband extends to button at front. Front waistband extends to tie ends that tie in back.”
I did the neatest topstitching job I’ve ever done in life, and I’m very proud that all of the seams are finished — no raw edges showing at all! I’m thrilled that I was able to make such a fitted dress without using any darts or zippers. The wrap part of it concerned me at first, but it feels pretty secure, actually, since the cotton tends to stick to itself. Just in case, though, I am definitely going to wear a slip with this dress!

The print makes this a fun looking dress. I’m glad you posted this dress ! I am thinking of making this as a top or a pencil dress. Thank you !
