I just spent six weeks hiking across Spain in hideous hiking clothes, so when I got home I was in the mood to sew up something classy.
Enter Vogue Special Design 4627 from 1955. I’ve had this pattern and the fabric – which I knew was destined for this dress – in my stash for more than a year. I knew I’d have to fiddle a lot to get the fit right on the bodice though, so I’d been putting the whole thing off. I’m glad I finally made it up, even if I did have to spend a whole day on the muslin.
