I made this peplum by modifying the basic bodice sloper – splitting a dart, rotating a dart, subtracting sleeves, and adding a peplum with pleats matching up with the darts. The Burdastyle pattern modification and drafting kit bundle demonstrate most of these techniques. I sewed it up using a mid/heavy weight black Ponte knit – so really it didn’t need the darts but I think it gives it a clean, polished and more structured look. Also super comfortable to wear – and no need for a zipper!
