I tried to follow Zahra’s cute pattern for the “retro top” but ended up modifying it a bit. (I also had a few problems with the printed pattern, but maybe I just didn’t print it right… I included a picture of my futile attempt to make it all fit ;-))
My modifications: I used jersey for the main part – so no need for a zipper. I also found that the flared style wasn’t exactly flattering on me, so I changed the cut from flared to straight. The facing is made from (inflexible) cotton, so on the bottom part, where the bow is tied, the facing is not connected to the body all the way to retain enough flexibility to pull the top your head when the bow is untied.
Black Jersey and patterned Cotton (inflexible) for the facing, plus lining for the facing.

Hi, beautiful top! I´m trying to copy it right now. Have troubles with the back since it is too big, will not come down close to the back. Have seen that you other have had the same problem. Saw that you had alterer the top to sew in plaits instead of havin creases (hope my English is correct;-)). How far down dod you sew them?

I had the same problem as well; but I love the look of this pattern. I made mine in plain white cotton knit, and also did not use a zipper. I have not had time to upload it yet. Your version is really nice. I love the contrast between the two fabrics.

Loving the poka dot detail. No you didn’t print it out wrong I had exactly the same problem when I tried to piece the pattern together.

Lovely top! Great idea to use jersey fabric. I also modified the pattern a bit, and like you, made the sides straight. I love the neckline you added in the polka dot fabric!

This looks really cute and I love the polka dot fabric. When I tried printing this pattern I had problems with it too, but I’m a beginner so modifying it was too confusing for me, haha.

thank you so much, everybody! :-)
cutexlilshorty: yeah, the pattern was long enough, but I wear burda size 34 and the pattern’s a 40, so maybe that did the trick as well…

I am absolutely in love with your shirt! Beautiful! Did you have to make the shirt longer or was it long enough from the original pattern?
