Description

Last year I bought a fun and cheery polka dot dress but alas! it was too short for over 6’ me! I sort of saw that one coming! :) I had an idea, though, before I placed the dress in the cart, and it was making an underskirt for the dress. So I did just that.

I sewed a half slip using a pattern I drafted myself. For the upper portion, I used slippery taffeta lining and sewed a lower panel of polka dot fabric to the bottom portion of the slip. Now the dress is 8" longer and it looks like it is part of the dress! Too short of ready-to-wear skirts and dresses are always a problem for me, so I think I will be making many more underskirts in the future.

Read all about how I made the pattern and sewed it together by visiting my blog: St. Gemma’s Art and Needlework
