Description

This pattern was a pain to work with. It is free for a reason. :P But at least it turned out well despite all the trouble I had with it :) This pattern is VERY short. And since I’m a pear, the bottom of the one piece suit (in the biggest size) was far too tight, and I had to cut it off. I suggest adding length if you try this pattern. I’m glad I made the back ties as long as I did, because I ended up just connecting them to the neck ties to make a criss-cross back. I made the bottoms with a Burda legging pattern I had in my stash, and that worked out very nicely. Pinning the hem while I was wearing them proved to be a challenge tho ;)

I’d make a lot of changes if I ever tried this pattern again. And I’d definitely consider just making something myself instead as the pattern doesn’t fit me anyway.

It looks super cute despite all your problems, and I love that fabric!

i ended up doing the back of my allison up like that as well. and i had the same problem with it being way to short (then again I’m a little lanky at 5’ 10") I just slashed the pattern in three places along the torso and ended up adding at least 4 inches. I’m impressed with how your cups turned out because I could not get them to be supportive in any way shape or form

oh my, yeah i forgot to mention that I added some sorta padded forming cups in there. my bust is super tiny, and I had to put something in there because it was just terrible otherwise. If I ever make this again, it will need some major altering first.

I can relate. My chest is probably size 2 and my hips are probably size 6/8. Sometimes it’s annoying when I’m making a dress or something, because I have to cut out a small top and a bigger bottom. But that’s the cool thing about making your own clothes, because you can fix problems like that. In the clothing stores, they don’t always cut things right.

Wow, it looks awesome! I know what you mean about the pattern being short. I’m only 5’6" in height, yet a lot of patterns seem to pose this problem for me — even some from the big pattern companies like Butterick. Your suit turned out very cute and it is flattering. Great work!

Thanks! I don’t usually have a length problem, but I do have problems with my pear shape and small bust :) If only patterns were just perfect, all our problems would be solved ;)
