Im very new to sewing and this is one of my very first projects.
I had a playful polka dot fabric lying around so I decided to make a nice and easy casual skirt with an exposed elastic top. I just made a basic skirt then added layers to create cowled sides, as I am a big fan of the volume it adds to my hips.
I also reworked Miasu’s contour bust pattern to fit my measurements, but unfortunately I am at this stage unable to figure out how to join the two pieces together, considering I really want to keep the elastic band on the skirt!
Due to the bust being a separate, waist-length piece, I just gave it a couple of buttons as a closure at the back.
Top – cotton/polyester blend
Skirt – Some kind of polyester

Looks great!
How did you go about resizing the bust? And did you have to make it bigger or smaller?

Hi, i resized the bust by kinda doing up a new pattern based on the lines used in Muasu’s top. If you are of a smaller bust/size then you could try following the bust pattern for the tute i put up for my Recycled Curtain Ruffle Strap Dress (in my studio), it worked really well for me, and youl be able to make many variations from it. Just be aware though, iv had feedback that it doesnt work too well for bigger busts so if thats the case, you may want to tweak the pattern block a bit.
If you do try making the custom block, pls post as i would really love to see how it turned out! ;)
