A “blasphemous” experiment – making a classic fitted blazer with polar fleece in a “toxic” color. I’m still not sure if I love or hate the final result, but there is something definitely star-trekish about it.

Stunning. Beautiful details. I am amazed at your choice of fleece. It looks like wool. Did you line it? How did you finish the seams?

From the picture, I would never have guessed that was polar fleece! Excellent! I think that’s an experiment turned success!

Is that just regular polarfleece? Turned out nice.

It is a heavier polar fleece with a knit layer on one side which I think is quite commonly used in sportswear.

Really? I totally love it! Great topstitching, and I think the fleece translates fabulously in this pattern.

Did you use a pattern? I’d love to know what it was if you did.
Sep 23, 2012, 12.57 PMby ph123
Thank you! It is very loosely based on Burda 11/2010, #104, I used the same pattern for my “chanel” jacket. But I fitted it extensively – did an FBA first, fitted the waist and back a lot and also altered the sleeve a bit.

:))) I’ll let you know and send it to you if it doesn’t grow on me… :) and the fabric was very cheap.

Thank you, the material is very forgiving, easy to sew – the topstitching looks much cleaner than it actually is.

Thank you! I’m still not sure if this experiment with sports-wear fabric works – it still feels a bit inappropriate for a blazer. I got the idea because I get very cold when I travel (I’m totally freezing on the plane every time I fly!) and like to travel in jackets – but wool tends to get itchy and wrinkly. But I will probably start to love this traveling option very soon :)
