Along with the Karl lagerfeld mini skirt I made, this year seemed to be “everything in velvet” for me! Might be becuase I live in a much colder city now (Berlin) and velvet is warm and cosy!
this grey skirt was again a change to try out some new skills – my first hip jean style pockets, first jeans zip ( you can see its not entirely straight and flat), first pockets lining, first time sewing with velvet, etc, etc.
i made the pocket lining a cute red polka dot! You can’t really see it, but the seams are sewn with contrasting red thread, which I think looks cool. I made an effort to make these lines straight!
Its a comfortable, cool skirt which goes well with every other colour, and boots.
The pattern ran a little big! I made it to UK size 14, but I could have shaved an inch off and it would fit better, I’m not going back and changing it now!
grey velvet, red cotton, metal buttons, zip, red thread, grey thread
