Pleated Summer Skirt

Added Jun 16, 2010

This one was made with a beautiful African print cotton that I bought at a wholesale warehouse. I haven’t sewn myself a skirt in a long time and so I’m quite proud of this one! The pattern is centred on the skirt so that the flowers don’t get lost.

The waistband is quite simple with large pleats in the front and back. Small pockets at the side and a back centre zip. The skirt comes to just above the knee. The original pattern sat more on the hips, but I took it in to be between the hip and waist.

Garment Type
Bohemian, Casual

Love the way the flowers all match up perfectly round the pleats – very hard to get it right, but you’ve done a gorgeous job!

Thanks everyone! I made this from McCalls Pattern# 5591, in case anyone wants to make it. I recommend making one size smaller than the sizing suggests. I had to take mine in a couple inches when making it.
