Upper secondary school: finished! Here’s the 50s/60s inspired graduation dress I sewed. There’s a lacy petticoat under the dress to make it a bit more puffy. I shortened the gloves by using satin side string and added tiny bows on them (the gloves were bought, I didn’t sew them). You may notice some similarities between this and my evening gown… No pattern was used!
thick purple cotton, satin, invisible zipper.

Wonderful! This is a very similar dress that I wanted to sew for my wedding day! I wish I’d seen this earlier! A great job, you look stunning.

Congratulations on your graduation. . . and on another heart-lightening fashion creation. Perfect little dress, I die for big satin bows, and your alteration of the gloves is amazing. Always happy to see your work, Maryy!

I have to admit I was wondering about that styling choice… (I did like it however, it looks a bit like a hat from a naval uniform, so I asumed you were going for a touch of 50’s pin-up) I think the dress is stunning and 50’s retro is a very good look on you.

Haha, I can admit that the hat isn’t that classy! It’s just a tradition that when just graduated students get the hats at the ceremony, they wear them the whole day.
