My best friend got married this summer so I made her dress. We chose a cream silk charmeuse for the dress and skirt lining. The wedding was outside in July so I lined the bodice in cotton which would be more comfortable and moister wicking than silk. I added pleats to the bodice front and back and made a large flower broach which Rosie wore on her waist. Rosie did not want a bustle so I attached a ribbon loop into the hem of the train and she held the train up with her wrist. To throw in “something blue” I used blue fabric for the sleeve facings and added a fun ribbon for the waist stay.

So carefully worked out details! How long did it take you to make this dress?

All together, including designing, fabric shopping, drafting the pattern, fitting and finishing it took me 25 hours to make the dress which, considering I spread this out over 6 months is not bad at all.

I love to see wedding dress creations on BurdaStyle, because many of you are very talented and creative. This is a sweet dress and if I were attending the wedding, I would have never guess the dress was custom made by you. Great Job! Althought very simple and cleant (which I like), it looks beautiful, especially with the flower brouch.
