Description

Split neck, a-line skirt, with short side zip from underarm to waist. I needed a pretty but conservative frock for my first gig as a Wedding Celebrant next week, so $35 later, ta-da:-)
I couldn’t find a pattern for what I had in mind, so I made it out of paper tissue, then calico but even so the final version kind of evolved as I sewed. The bust darts became a full horizontal line, the zip was an afterthought, and the fabric was pretty tricky to get to behave itself – I’m pleased with the end result tho.

Material Notes

1.5 × 1.4m marine blue taffeta (which rustles and feels a bit like plastic – or so my husband thinks!)
1m black trim
