Burda Style For people who sew

This is a black-and-white plaid jumper dress that I’ve been wearing regularly all winter. It’s the BurdaStyle Mila Dress with a zipper rather than the hooks-and-eyes the pattern calls for. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR IF YOU MAKE MILA::::: either use a zipper or buy hook-and-eye tape. This is my second Mila made over a year after the first, but the first has STILL YET TO BE WORN because I don’t have the patience to sew on all those silly hooks and eyes! Hopefully by THIS summer…. This is also the second time I’ve had a problem with the with the left-hand bust dart and waist darts’ not lining up. Other users have also had this problem, though not all, curiously. Be on the lookout if you make Mila. In this version I eliminated the piece that goes under the bust and mid-panel section, knowing that I would be wearing this as a jumper over shirts. The armsyces and neck edge are finished in black satin bias tape turned to the inside. Oh, and the pockets, which I apparently forgot to photograph, are much bigger than the original Mila pockets.

Material Notes

extra cheap (1€/meter) fabric that the vender plainly said was rubbish and not worth using for much else than lining. It's loosely woven and frays easily. I agree that it's not very high quality, but for 1€...I'm not going to complain. It's already gotten it's worth of wear. Also, black satin bias tape and a long heavy metal zip
