Made without the collar ties or ruffled sleeve. I widened the neckline and made the armholes slightly bigger. I tried out a mini zig-zag hem on the facing for the button hole and liked the ruffly edge so much that I decided to keep it and put it on the outside. I extended the bias on the neckline to make a button loop. For such a simple design this blouse took some time as every seam is either a french seam or bound with bias. I made my own bias for this (thankyou Collette patterns for the excellent tutorial). It was quite tricky sandwiching the tiny pom-pom between the bib and front seams all at the same time and unfortunately in doing so my perfectly lined up bib piece (I had cut it on the bias so that the check pattern would be centred) moved out of line. I still like the top though and am keen to make another to improve the finished look. The pattern pieces took forever to tape together so at the very least it would seem a shame to not get more use out of it! Any ideas on how I get rid of that pulling between the bust and armhole? Perhaps I just need to make the next bust size up?
cotton…that is somehow impervious to ironing.
