A top I designed. I’m hoping to post the pattern, but I want to make it again first in a better fabric. I had really high hopes for this one, and I think a couple things went wrong with it. The fabric I think could have been cool with it, but I didn’t have enough to play with. I used an old shirt of my hubby’s.
The sides at the lower portion are open only because I didn’t have enough fabric to finish them (the pattern would not be this way). I need to find something that coordinates. I really like the neckband on the bias, but would have loved to do the waistband the same way! Also, bust darts and back darts help give it shape.
What do you think? I’m really disappointed in how it turned out.
Features

This is a really great shirt… I am so obsessed with pleats and ruffles at the moment, would sell my soul to the hot red guy with horns just to get my hands on this pattern

I love it! I agree with you – it would be nice if the waist band was cut on bias, but, I think it looks great just the way it is. I can see it as a cute mini dress and it would look nice in contrasting fabrics. Do post a pattern, please! :)

Really like this shirt… the neckline, the pleating on the bodice, the waist detail! Definitely a download for me if you get the pattern posted! Very cute!

I can’t believe you are disappointed – there is nothing to be disappointed about. I really like the style, especially the pleats in the front and the neckline. I think I’d prefer the check waistband cut on the bias – just to break up the check pattern thing. Or you could have the waistband and neckband in a contrasting colour.

Hey. I like it a lot. Your fabric looks a little bit like the fabric I used for my D&G dress. Great colours and great work with making the pattern.

the shirt is lovely. I like the side slit – maybe half the size of how it is now? I love how the shirt is fitted, but my hips need somewhere to go. The slit would help with that. =) Gorgeous project. Will definitely try my hand at this if you make the pattern.

I love this shirt. I’m so impressed it’s your own pattern, and I really appreciate all the thoughtful details. Meticulous work too. The bias neckline is great, and I can see how it would work in beautifully on the waistband as well. Having said that, can I suggest you offer a choice of biased or unbiased waistband when you post your pattern? I say that only because for someone like me who always needs to give the illusion of an elongated waist, I would choose the unbiased waistband. That way I could avoid that “break” at my midriff while still having the cute waistband detail:) It’s so funny that the open sides weren’t intentional; I fell in love with them and it’s one of the reason’s the blouse caught my eye to begin with! Perhaps another “option” on your pattern??? Anyway, you have nothing to be disappointed about because your shirt is awesome. It would fly off the racks!

I really like this! I love the neckband on the bias, especially with the plaid so it’s a nice contrast. You’re right, the waistband on the bias would be even more awesome. I do hope you post the pattern when you’ve got it all worked out, because I would love to make this!

Now what would you be disappointed in such a pretty shirt? If this is the muslin, I can’t wait to see the final version!

Noooo! Don’t be disappointed, it’s SO nice! I’m really impressed that ypu made the pattern yourself, I love the neckline and the pleats and it really fits you well :-).

I really like this! The plaid fabric is pretty with the shirt’s design. I agree—the neckline bias really works, and a bias waistband would look good too, but it looks great as is.
