I made this skirt using a basic skirt sloper. I removed the darts and converted it into an A-line skirt. I then added gathers to the front and back and made semi-circular cut-outs that I centered around the side seams. I took those cut-outs and added a little bit of gathering to give it a little detail. I added a cargo-style pocket to the sides and made a 3" waistband. I added decorative twin stitching to most of the seams to give it a more rugged look. It closes up the side with a centered zipper.
This skirt is made from vintage old stock fabric I found a few years ago in a fabric store the was going out of business in the East Village in NYC. It’s a wool blend of some sort.
I also made this skirt in regular woven cotton and it came out really nice!
Sweet dresses, an outfit for a doll, and cute embellishments are fun for the holidays!
