Description

I made this skirt using a basic skirt sloper. I removed the darts and converted it into an A-line skirt. I then added gathers to the front and back and made semi-circular cut-outs that I centered around the side seams. I took those cut-outs and added a little bit of gathering to give it a little detail. I added a cargo-style pocket to the sides and made a 3" waistband. I added decorative twin stitching to most of the seams to give it a more rugged look. It closes up the side with a centered zipper.
This skirt is made from vintage old stock fabric I found a few years ago in a fabric store the was going out of business in the East Village in NYC. It’s a wool blend of some sort.

I also made this skirt in regular woven cotton and it came out really nice!

WOW I LOVE IT, I MIGHT GIVE IT A TRY… DO YOU THINK IF I JUST USE A CIRCULAR SKIRT AND ADD THE SEMICIRCLES AT THE SIDES AND A WAIST BAND IT WOULD LOOK LIKE YOURS?? I’M A NOVICE AT SEWING SO CIRCLE SKIRTS ARE LIKE MAGIC TO ME lol I JUST GOT A PATTERN FOR “A” LINE SKIRTS BUT I AM AFRAID TO USE IT lol IS JUST THAT MY FABRIC IS SO PRETTY AND I DON’T WANT TO MESS IT UP.. MAYBE I WILL BUY SOME CHEAP FABRIC LATER TO TRY IT ON.

I don’t know how it would look with a circle skirt but it’s worth a shot. I usually make a mock up in muslin first to make sure I get it right before I use expensive fabric

This is EXACTLY the skirt I have been wanting ! I have been looking at patterns trying to figure out how to make something like this. You did a wonderful job and I love all the fabrics you used. Skirts with pockets are really awesome for living in the woods like I do.
