I love the skirt, I’ve already worn it twice, I’m in pretty desperate need of nice non-work outfits (work outfits I have lots, this probably says something about my life) and this really fits the bill.
The pattern (Burda Style 9/2009, 125) was originally designed for leather, and there are a few problems in translation, the facings won’t stay flat without stitches and some of the hem is a bit bulky because of the thickness of the fabric.
It was pretty quick and easy to put together (only one lot of unpicking when I put a belt loop in the wrong place). I sewed the lining into the seams which worked well (and means it definetly can’t be seen below the he
The buttons cost more than the material – £6 from John Lewis. Which says a lot for the brilliance of Fabric Land and why I still have an Ikea bag full of fabric waiting to be sorted/unpacked (only a month since I moved, I don’t think it counts as avoiding the problem yet).
