I wanted this dress to have a subtle pin-up girl quality, off-set by a really great garden party type fabric. I used the brighter side of the fabric for the majority of the dress, and the muted satin side for the waist area. I also did a belt that weaved in and out of the dress around the waist in the brighter fabric. As a substitute for a kick pleat, I did a fan type pleat in the satin side to add a little more interest.
I’m not positive of the name, but it is a silk with a rough weave making the grain very apparent, and a satin back. I used the silk side for most of the dress in the brighter print. The waist is the satin side with more muted colors.
