I started sewing when I was 12 years old but got away from it in my 20’s and 30’s. I needed an easy project to get me going and to boost my confidence…..so I decided that a skirt would be the way to go.
I was inspired by the outfit that Sharon Stone wore to the 1998 Oscars. She wore a white men’s Gap shirt and lilac Vera Wang evening skirt.
I used New Look 6053 view C. I chose this pattern because the finished legnth was 40" long and the skirt is not too full. I wear between a 6-8 in ready made clothes, but I cut a 14. My waist is on the short side so I wanted it to hang low on the hips. I probably could have gone with a 12 but I am happy with the 14.
