Hi
It was more like a gore, as I worked on that complete panel first. Than I the front/side of the skirt. I put together the back and than added it on to the rest.
The only part that actually has a waist “band” is the part with the ruffles, as I thought it could use the support and liked the look of combining the two waist styles.

I love this too! I have some menswear wool in my stash that I’ve considered too boring to use, until now. How did you do it? Did you just insert the tier of ruffles in the side seam like a godet? Could you let me know? I’m keen to try out your design idea!
