I finally finished my Rooibos dress, after an unheard of three muslins. Well, two were redos of the skirt section only, but that is still quite a lot of preparatory sewing for me! I did a little stash busting for this, using a grey woolen pinstripe that was purchased several years ago. To tie in even more with my fall sewing palette, I made chartreuse piping and the facing has some navy in it. In denial of the wool’s itch factor at first, I eventually did a sort of half lining in silk habotai (the facing was already sewn in, and I really liked the corner points).

I love the perfectly matching stripes and the unconventional use of this suiting fabric. And the fitting is great.

Thanks! I think Colette sizes pretty generously, and was surprised at how much I needed to take it in.

Darl – you look super demure and super sexy in this dress – fits you fantastically. I love, love, love the contrast and you have done a fab job in your finishing. That piping is PERFECTION! And that button – such a lovely embellishment! I adore this! xxxxx

Very nice dress. Love how there’s fun print peeking out on the neckline that contrasts with the rest of the dress. Nice pairing with the shoes too, they are cute! :)

Thank you! I love color, but I also love grey, so figured this would be a good chance to play with a classic suiting.

That’s so sweet… I’ll have to pass that on to my hubs, as he’s the guy behind the camera, dealing with me constantly running back to see if I look ridiculous :)
