I’m so happy with this dress! The pattern is beautiful! I used a silk/linen blend shantung from fabric.com (still there if you’re interested), and it’s absolutely gorgeous fabric :) I should have really used a stretch fabric that the pattern calls for, but I just couldn’t resist.
A quick word of caution: the many darts make this dress MUCH more time consuming than you might expect!
I ran into a few roadblocks while making this. The fit of this style dress is incredibly important. Since I didn’t make a muslin (I hate them), I had some trouble… Maybe I should start trying that whole muslin thing out… really. Anyway, it’s not as fitted as you might think, so I had to take it in. The biggest problem though is the lower back darts that make a poof in that area of the dress. I just can’t get them right. So, I still have a little work to do there, but otherwise am really happy with this.
I wanted to try adding a kick pleat or something to the hem, but couldn’t find any good instructions, so I made do with a slit.

To me – not a very qualified referee, I have to admit – seems it fits like a glove…. Hope you won’t wear it too much around, not to increase accident rates (among male people, I mean) in Cincinnati…

the fabric is lovely! this turned out really nicely. The back darts…could be having problems because the drape of the fabric is wrong for the pattern? maybe a bias cut would work, or moving the darts a bit closer to the center back seam? can’t really tell that it poofs out in the pics, if it’s any consolation :)

we hid it well then ;-) thanks for the input, that could very well be the problem. It’s really below the seam that there are poofs, right above my hips. i haven’t given up on it yet though.
